RULES AND STRUCTURE OF THE COURSE

  1. General Features, Target Audience and Program of the Masterclass

The Roma Tre Orchestra (R3O) Association promotes an orchestral conducting masterclass led by M° Günter Neuhold and hosted in Bassiano (Province of Latina, Italy), from the 11th to the 24th of July, 2022. Each candidate may submit an application for either or both sessions. Two rankings and two separate lists of admissions will be compiled.

Both rankings will be completed by April 15th, 2022. Starting from April 16th, all candidates admitted to one or both sessions will be notified by email; notifications will be sent to the address indicated in the application form.

The participation fee is €2000 per session. The balance of €1750 for one session or €3500 for both sessions must be paid by May 31st, 2022; after this deadline, R3O will send one reminder (via email) to all candidates with a balance due and, five days later, the Association reserves the right to contact another candidate on the waiting list. The initial deposit will not be refunded.

After the application period has ended, R3O will publish the list of admitted candidates on its website.

The standard application fee includes attendance to the conducting masterclass, as well as lodging (in double or triple room plus 3 meals per day) at the Inn “La Bella Lisa” in Bassiano Romano. For those who do not wish to stay at the inn, a reduced participation fee is available (€1500 per session), to be paid in full after receiving notification of acceptance to the session(s). An unlimited number of auditors can be admitted to the masterclass.

The participation fee for each auditor is €500, which grants the right to attend all lessons given by M° Neuhold, without intervening, as well as the concerts organized by R3O on the course site, including the final concert.

Auditors will not be able to stay at the Inn. A list of alternate accommodations will be provided upon request.

  1. Masterclass Schedule

The masterclass will be subdivided in two sessions observing the following schedule:

The conductors of the two final concerts will be selected through a process that will involve M° Neuhold and the orchestra. M° Neuhold will assign a grade between 1 and 10 (no decimals) to each participant. Each member of the orchestra will do the same. The final ranking for each session will therefore result from the mathematical average between the grade assigned by M° Neuhold and the one assigned by the orchestra (equal to the average of all grades expressed by the orchestra members). In case of a tie, the final ranking will be established at the absolute discretion of M° Neuhold.

The final ranking for each session will be made available to all its participants.

The total number of candidates and the program of the final concerts that conclude each session will be decided at the absolute discretion of M° Neuhold.

  1. Final Provisions

All participants, including auditors, will receive a certificate of participation.
